Tenants from the Nostrand Houses in Brooklyn are in the midst of a historic vote to decide whether to become the first public housing development in the city to join the Public Housing Preservation Trust.

Under the trust, the complex will acquire access to more funding that will go toward making critical repairs.

The estimated cost to rehabilitate all 16 buildings at the Nostrand Houses is about $600 million.

Residents also have two other options on the ballot besides the trust.

They can choose to join other public housing units that have been converted to private management or continue the current status quo through federal funding under Section 9 public housing.

Tenants have until Dec. 7 to cast their ballots.

Lisa Bova-Hiatt, CEO of the city’s housing authority, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to discuss more.
